The Yangtze andthe Rhine: A historical conference
After a firstmeeting in Shanghai in October 2017, we found that we have similar academicinterests, as both rivers have and had similar problems. Nonetheless, comparingaspects of the history of the two rivers and the ports at their estuaries isnot as easy as thought. Therefore, in this second conference, we try to find away to come to a better understanding of these aspects along both rivers bymaking sessions on a number of topics:
1. Economic/business aspects
2. Labour/Social History
3. Cultural/religious aspects
4. Political/juridical aspects
5. Environmentalaspects
